Tinubu Inaugurates Lagos Red Line Rail, Slams Labour Unions

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

He stated this at the commissioning of the Lagos Red Line Train project connecting Oyingbo to Agbado.

The Labour Union had on Tuesday staged a protest over the hardship resulting from the economic reforms of the president.

But the president said there is no going back on his economic policies while assuring Nigerians of the recovery of the economy.

The president warned the organized Labour against considering itself as the mouth piece of the people.

On the commissioned project, the President described it as the culmination of the vision he birthed 25 years ago when he was governor of the state and called for more inter-government collaborations in the area of infrastructure.

Saudi Medical Team Seperates Conjoined Twins From Nigeria

Saudi Arabian medical team has successfully separated a pair of conjoined twins from Nigeria.

The twins, Hassana and Hussaina, were born with their legs conjoined at both ends sharing areas in the lower abdomen, pelvis, lower spine, and lower spinal nerves.

The Press Attached at the Saudi embassy, Mohammed Alsahabi made the announcement in a statement in Abuja.

He said the separation surgery took about sixteen and a half hours and involved 39 consultants and other medical staff at the King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.

The Head of the medical team Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah said the operation has a 70 percent success rate and involved nine stages.

Ehie Withdraws Suit Against 25 Rivers Assembly Members

There appears to be an end to the political crisis rocking Rivers State as the member representing Ahoada East Constituency II at the Rivers State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie, has withdrawn his contempt proceedings suit against 25 of the 27 defected lawmakers.

Ehie, a close ally of the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, had declared the seats of 27 lawmakers vacant over their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress.

Ehie filed contempt proceedings at the Rivers state high court in Port Harcourt against 25 of them in which he challenged their sittings and legislative activities. (APC).

Ehie later resigned his position in the House of Assembly following the peace deal reached between Governor Fubara and Wike.

However in the latest development Ehie has withdrawn his suit against the 25 lawmakers.

When the matter came up for hearing of applications pending before the court today, counsel to the Claimant, Mac-Barango informed the court about a Notice of Discontinuance filed by his clients. He applied that the court should give effect to the said Notice.

Plateau State Police Arrest 8 Suspects Over Christmas Day Killing

The state Police Command has confirmed the arrest of suspects in connection with the Christmas attacks on Barkin Ladi and Bokkos local government areas of the state, which left over 200 people dead.

Confirming the development, the state police public relations officer Alfred Alabo, said 8 of the suspects have now been arrested following the deployment of a special investigative team.

He said the state command is also working to help reintegrate displaced people

The state is still in a statewide mourning period announced by state government, Caleb Mutfwang to last until January 8, when flags will fly at half-mast in honour of the deceased.
