Mercy Aigbe, a popular Nollywood actress, has converted to Islam and adopted a new name.

She and her husband, Kazeem Adeoti, recently organized a Ramadan lecture and invited friends, family, and colleagues.

Following the event's success, Mercy was interviewed, during which she confirmed her conversion to Islam.

“Insha Allah, My new name is Hajia Meenah Mercy Adeoti. Meenah with the H. I’m so so so excited. I feel fulfilled actually. This is actually my first Ramadan lecture and then Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islam. It’s like gathering people and letting them be aware of what Allah says, so that we can follow the rules that Allah has set. So I’m so happy that people that we called came here,” she said in parts of the video.

In a video that surfaced, the actress requested Nigerians to address her as Hajia Meenah Mercy Adeoti.

However, Mercy expressed her difficulties in coping with the demands of Ramadan, particularly waking up for Sahur.

She even shared a photo of herself sleeping and admitted that waking up for prayer had been a challenge.

Although she is coping better with fasting, she still struggles to wake up early in the morning as she feels very sleepy. Mercy also revealed on Instagram that it has become challenging for her to stay awake during the day after waking up at midnight.
