In a recent episode of the 'Doyin's Corner' podcast hosted by 'Big Brother Naija' star Doyin, well-known Twitter user Daniel Regha made a noteworthy announcement.
He declared that he would decline any monetary offering from music sensation Davido, citing the artist's failure to fulfill a N20 million giveaway pledge as the reason behind his decision.
Last year, Davido had taken to Twitter on March 16, 2022, to express his intention of distributing N20 million among 20 lucky individuals. However, this caught the attention of Twitter influencer Daniel Regha, who voiced his desire for Davido to allocate his funds in a different manner.
Regha expressed his stance on rejecting money from the singer and explained that there are specific reasons why he would decline offers of money from certain individuals.
He said, "Davido, instead of gifting $20 million to 20 people, visit hospitals, schools, and social media platforms (including your comment sections) and use the money to foot the bills of those who urgently need financial assistance, because the majority of people here will misuse the money if given to them."
Regha emphasized the importance of keeping promises, using Davido's unfulfilled pledge as an example of raising people's hopes and then disappointing them without any explanation.
According to Regha, the only justifiable reason to retract such promises is if the intended recipients are unworthy or engaged in unethical activities. He further revealed his observation that some celebrities make giveaway pledges merely as a publicity stunt to boost their engagement on social media.
The conversation on 'Doyin's Corner' podcast has sparked discussions among fans and followers, with varying opinions on Davido's unfulfilled giveaway pledge.
While some sympathize with Regha's stance and applaud his principled approach, others believe that celebrities should not be held accountable for every promise made on social media.
