Atiku Abubakar Asks Nigerians To Use Easter Period To Pray For Peace In The Country

Former Vice President, ATIKU ABUBAKAR, has urged Nigerians to use the occasion of Easter to pray for Nigeria's unity and for peace to return to the country.

In his Easter message, the Peoples Democratic Party stalwart said Easter is not only the time to be merry but also the time to reflect on love and sacrifice.

He also recalled how the coronavirus pandemic crippled many activities in most countries in the world last year.

ATIKU hailed the health workers who, like the example set by Jesus Christ, sacrificed their lives in battling the virus.

On his part, former President GOODLUCK JONATHAN urged Nigerians to work in unity and peace, saying that such is needed for the country to overcome its present challenges.

Atiku Abubakar Calls For Help For The FG To Address Challenges Facing The Nation

Former Vice President ATIKU ABUBAKAR has said the Nigerian government lacks the capacity to address issues facing the country, calling on stakeholders and elder statesmen to help in rescuing the West African nation which he noted is on the precipice.

ATIKU's statement was in reaction to a recent report that tagged Nigeria as the nation with the highest unemployment rate in the world.

In a series of tweets on his official handle, ATIKU said the nation is at a precipice and the truth is that all stakeholders and elder statesmen have to speak up on time, while there is still a Nigeria to save.

According to ATIKU, Nigerians must rise up and help, not because of the government, but because of our people.

Atiku Abubakar To Contest Presidency In 2023 Says Son

ADAMU ATIKU-ABUBAKAR, the son of former Vice President ATIKU ABUBAKAR, has said his father will contest the presidency again in 2023.

ATIKU’s son said this while presenting the score card of his ministry as the Commissioner for Works and Energy in Adamawa State as the administration of Governor AHMADU FINITIRI, of the Peoples Democratic Party clocked one year.

He said there was nothing wrong with his father contesting for the presidency in 2023, since he has been an astute, strategic, master politician for almost four decades.

ADAMU ATIKU-ABUBAKAR added that FINTIRI’s administration had surpassed the expectations of many in the state who were surprised that given the tight liquidity constraints, he could still meet most of its campaign promises to the electorate.

Atiku Faults FG’s Spending Plan Despite Economic Situation

Former Vice-President, ATIKU ABUBAKAR, has renewed call on the federal government to reduce spending on some items within the executive as a way of mitigating the burden of the current realities on the country.

He also faulted the latest review of the 2020 budget by the Federal Government, saying it shows that the administration has lost touch with current global economic realities.

Rather than reviewing the budget, ATIKU advised the BUAHRI-led government to sell eight or nine of the presidential jets and cancel the N27bn earmarked for the renovation of the National Assembly complex.

ATIKU in a statement in Abuja, also expressed disappointment that despite the crash of oil prices in the international market and the nation’s inability to expand its revenue base, government only slashed the budget by a “mere 0.6 per cent.”

The former Vice President explained that significant cuts in funds budgeted for presidential feeding and transport will go a long way in ensuring that Nigerians get a better deal.

However, the Deputy Spokesman of the ruling APC, YEKINI NABENA described the statement from ATIKU as political.
