Atletico Madrid Forward, Joao Felix Tests Positive For Coronavirus

La Liga League leaders, Atletico Madrid has announced that forward Joao Felix is now the third player in two weeks to test positive for Covid-19.

"Joao Felix has tested positive for Covid-19. The striker is isolating at home, in compliance with the health authorities' guidelines and La Liga protocols," Atletico said in a statement on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old Portuguese youngster joins teammates Yannick Carrasco and Mario Hermoso, who tested positive for coronavirus last week, on the sidelines.

Carrasco and Hermoso missed Atletico's 4-2 win at Cadiz on Sunday, but club record-signing Felix started and played 60 minutes yet will now be unavailable for Monday's clash at home to Celta Vigo.

Felix, who moved to Atletico from Benfica for a club-record £113m in the summer of 2019, has made 25 appearances for Diego Simeone's side in all competitions this season, scoring nine goals.

Man Utd Put Nine Past Southampton In Record-Equalling Win

Manchester United equaled the Premier League record by putting nine goals past nine-man Southampton - the second time Saints have lost 9-0 in as many seasons.

A red card for Saints' Alexandre Jankewitz after only two minutes triggered a complete collapse for the visitors, who were on the end of the same scoreline against Leicester City in October 2019.

It is only the third time a team has lost 9-0 in the Premier League, with United also beating Ipswich Town by that margin in 1995.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka opened the scoring with his first goal at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani also found the net either side of a Jan Bednarek own goal before the break.

After a fairly drab start to the second half, United cut loose, scoring five times in the final 21 minutes.

Anthony Martial ended an eight-match goal drought before Scott McTominay drove home from the edge of the area.

Then, after Bednarek became the second Saints player to be sent off - bringing down Martial to allow Bruno Fernandes the chance to score from the penalty spot on 87 minutes - the French forward netted his second, before Dan James wrapped up the scoring in stoppage time.

It was a stunning ending as United almost matched their club record 10-0 victory over Anderlecht in 1956.

Liverpool Make Transfer Deadline Signings

Liverpool have completed a loan deal for Schalke's Turkey central defender Ozan Kabak.

The 20-year-old joins the Reds until the end of the season, with the club also having signed Preston North End's Ben Davies for £2m.

While defender Davies, 25, has signed a “long-term deal” at Anfield.

Liverpool has an option to buy Kabak for £18m - with add-on clauses - at the end of the season, but do not need to activate it until June.

For now, they will pay a £1m loan fee now with the potential for an extra £500,000 based on games played and how they fare in the Champions League.

The Reds are missing experienced centre-backs, with Joel Matip out for the rest of the season and Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez out with long-term injuries, while midfielder Fabinho, who has been standing in at the back, is also out.

Manager Jurgen Klopp named his 12th different centre-half partnership in 21 Premier League games for Sunday’s 3-1 win against West Ham, with midfielder Jordan Henderson alongside Nathaniel Phillips.
