Bandits Are Targeting Kaduna Key Sectors, Speaker Cries Out

The Speaker Kaduna State House of Assembly, Alhaji Yusuf Zailani has expressed worry that bandits and kidnappers are targeting key sectors of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in the early hours of Monday, suspected bandits stormed the Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna and kidnapped unspecified number students.

Zailani said, “I am greatly worried by the fact that these recent abductions are targeted at key sectors of our society.

“We woke up this (Monday) morning to yet another depressing news of abduction of students of the Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna.

“This is not a cheering news coming a day after the abduction at the Leprosy Training Centre, Zaria.’’

He, however, said that everything was being done to ensure the protection of lives and property of residents of the state.

The speaker urged those perpetrating the “criminal acts to repent’’.

FRSC Seizes 373 Vehicles With Expired Documents In Kaduna

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has seized 373 vehicles with expired vehicle documents, old number plates and without driver’s licence in Kaduna State.

He added that 252 vehicles were seized in Kaduna, 41 in Kafanchan and 80 in Zaria.

Mohammed stressed the need for motorists to register their vehicles and acquire new number plates.

“We still have cases of motorists with unregistered vehicle papers, including tricycles and motorcycles still ply our roads and perpetrate crimes unnoticed.

“If a registered vehicle is used to commit, a crime, we can easily trace the person by logging onto our ur database, using addresses of violators.

“The defaulters are given ample time to acquire the new number plates, driver’s licence and renew their expired vehicles’ particulars,’’ he said.

Muhammed said the joint operation would be sustained and thanked stakeholders involved in the exercise for their cooperation.

Bandits Invade Community In Kaduna, Kill 4, Injure 1

The Kaduna State government on Tuesday said bandits killed four persons and injured one in Jema’a Local Government Area of the state.

Aruwan said security agencies reported the attack on Goska community in Jema’a Local Government Area of the state.

He said that the bandits invaded the community and killed four residents.

“Two of the victims were attacked and killed on their farms by the assailants; one woman sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to hospital,” he said.

The commissioner also said that Gov. Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness at the reports and prayed for repose of the souls of the residents who were killed by the bandits.

The governor sent his condolences to their families and wished the injured quick recovery.

Aruwan said security patrols were ongoing in the general area, alongside investigations into the attack.

A 10-Man Panel Has Been Set Up To Resolve Kaduna/Labour Dispute

A ten-member bi-partite committee has been mandated to resolve the dispute between Kaduna State Government and the organised Labour.

The panel was raised at a meeting convened by Labour and Employment Minister Dr. CHRIS NGIGE, who waded in the industrial impasse between workers and Governor NASIR EL-RUFAI administration.

Local Government Affairs Commissioner JAFARU SANI, who co-led the state delegation with the State Head of Service and the leadership of NLC led by its President, AYUBA WABBA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the end of the parley.

The MoU asked the parties to settle their dispute and embrace peaceful correlation by desisting from any further industrial action and victimization of workers.

At the end of the meeting, the minister said the committee, with representatives from the state government and the NLC, will critically look at the issues under contention and resolve them based on provisions of Section 20 of the Labour Act.

According to him, the meeting agreed that no person shall be victimized for participating in the industrial action in Kaduna after which both parties appended their signature to the documents.
