Gunmen Abduct Female Students In ​​Kaduna State

Students Of The Federal College Of Forestry Mechanisation In Mando Area Of Kaduna State Has been Abducted By Gunmen.

According to online source, the spokesman of the state Police command, MOHAMMED JALIGE said the incident occurred last night but the exact number of students abducted is unknown.

He said the Police was working with the Nigerian Army to trace the kidnappers and rescue the students.

According to the BBC, a witness said half of the female students were taken but not a single male was abducted.

Kaduna state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, SAMUEL ARUWAN, has confirmed the incident, saying investigation is ongoing.

El-Rufai Orders Reopening of Worship Centres in Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor, NASIR EL-RUFAI, has ordered the reopening of worship centres across the state.

He, however, directed that the worship centers should conduct their services only on specific days.

The governor gave the directives in a state-wide broadcast, saying the reopening of worship centres would be subjected to compliance with safety guidelines and stipulations.

Governor EL-RUFAI announced that the amended Quarantine Order would take effect from today, June 10.

El-Rufai Warns Against Almajiri, Defiers Risk 2-year Jail Term

Kaduna state Governor NASIR EL-RUFA’I, has warned that parents who enrol their children into the Almajiri education system stand the risk of prosecution and up to two years in jail.

EL-RUFA’I handed down the warning when he visited some 200 Almajiri children repatriated from Nasarawa State and undergoing rehabilitation at the Government College, Kurmin Mashi, Kaduna.

Almajiri are children enrolled to be taught Islamic knowledge under Islamic Clerics, but who loiter on the streets with bowls begging for alms and food.

EL-RUFAI insists the ban on Almajiri practice in the state is still in force.

Kaduna state Extends Lockdown by 30 days

Kaduna State Government has extended the COVID-19 lockdown by thirty days.

Governor NASIR EL-RUFAI disclosed this via a Twitter handle.

He however said people that venture out of their homes for whatever reason must wear facemasks and observe social distancing everywhere they go.

According to him, the state Government is making efforts to provide facemasks for poor and vulnerable residents.

Governor NASIR EL-RUFAI added that Mobile courts have been empowered by the Quarantine Orders to try violators and impose the prescribed penalties, including fines and imprisonment upon conviction.
