Mayor Of Atlanta Declares November 18 ‘Davido Day’

The Mayor of Atlanta, Andre Dickens, has acknowledged the significant contributions of Nigerian-American singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to the entertainment scene in Atlanta.

This recognition comes in the wake of Davido's headline A.W.A.Y. Festival at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, prompting the Mayor and the Atlanta City Council to officially designate November 18 as "Davido Day" in appreciation of the artist.

In a heartfelt birthday message to Davido on November 21, 2023, the mayor commended the singer for captivating audiences globally and achieving iconic status in the music industry. The mayor expressed gratitude on behalf of the City of Atlanta for Davido's tireless efforts as a singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate. The mayor noted Davido's extensive list of accolades and his continuous commitment to using his platform for charitable initiatives in the United States and various African communities.

The Atlanta City Council, in an official statement, declared, "Be it resolved that we, the members of the Atlanta City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta, do at this moment proclaim November 18, 2023, as Davido Day in the City of Atlanta."

Furthermore, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners also extended honours to Davido by proclaiming November 21 as "Davido Appreciation Day" in Fulton County, Georgia. The Board recognized Davido for his notable contributions to the music and entertainment industry and officially designated November 21, 2023, as a day to appreciate and celebrate the artist's impact in Fulton County.

The Board stated, "Be it resolved that the Fulton County Board of Commissioners recognizes David for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry and does at this moment proclaim Tuesday, November 21, 2023, 'Davido Appreciation Day' in Fulton County, Georgia."

Davido’s Timeless Tour Hits Abuja This December

Following an amazing performance in Lagos earlier this year and a string of successful tours in the United States, Nigerian afrobeats musician Davido has officially confirmed that the Timeless Concert will be held on December 14 at Abuja’s Iconic Eagle’s Square.

The tour’s return to Nigeria, announced via his official Instagram handle, is appropriate, especially with the holiday season approaching.

For the Abuja leg, the ‘Skelewu’ singer will collaborate with Apitainment and Capital Music Festival to provide a one-of-a-kind experience for music fans in the city. Through a shared commitment to creating world-class events, both partners confirmed that the event is intended to boost Abuja’s entertainment landscape and create an outstanding experience for music enthusiasts and Davido fans.

With the release of his fourth studio album, ‘Timeless,’ Davido has captured fans across the world with his chart-topping hits and electrifying performances. This tour stop highlights the city’s expanding entertainment ecosystems.

The Timeless Tour will resume on December 17 in Port Harcourt and December 24 in Lagos.

Singer Peruzzi Debunks Writing For Burna Boy

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tobechukwu Okoh, popularly known as Peruzzi, has refuted the viral report suggesting that he wrote one of Burna Boy's popular songs.

It all started when Peruzzi previously claimed to have penned over 252 songs for the Nigerian music industry. Some of his social media followers speculated that a particular hit song by Burna Boy was his creation and criticized Burna for relying on many songwriters.

In response to these speculations, Peruzzi made it clear on his official platform, stating, "Don't give me credit for what I didn't do."

Singer Dammy Krane Calls Out Davido Over Alleged Debt

Singer Oyindamola Emmanuel, popularly recognised as Dammy Krane, has once more asserted that David Adeleke, also known as Davido, owes him money and appears hesitant to settle the debt.

In an early morning post on X (formerly Twitter), Dammy Krane emphasised that Davido should settle the outstanding amount, highlighting his responsibility towards Dammy Krane's daughter.

In a message conveyed with some colloquial language, the singer stated, "I understand it can be challenging for affluent individuals to meet their financial obligations, but Davido, for the sake of my child, my brother, kindly reimburse me. Nigerian school fees are not a minor matter these days; everyone is striving to secure their future. We only seek what is rightfully ours, not any form of trouble."

He continued, recalling, "Also, let's not overlook, Davido, that you took Idowest from my record label. I chose to remain silent, considering you as a brother, and refrained from making any issues for the artist, as I had already done my part in assisting him. I sincerely wish to understand why you hesitated to compensate me for a song you publicly acknowledged I composed."

Notably, Dammy Krane publicly accused Davido in September 2022 of not reimbursing him for his songwriting contributions to a previously released track despite having privately communicated with the DMW boss.
