I Deserve 20 Grammys – Davido

Grammy-nominated Nigerian artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently expressed his belief that he should have won awards in the past.

Despite being overlooked by the Recording Academy, Davido has secured three nominations for the upcoming 66th Grammy Awards.

In a recent interview with France 24 leading up to the Grammy Awards ceremony, Davido shared his thoughts on the recognition. He stated that this is his first-ever Grammy nomination and expressed gratitude to the Recording Academy. Reflecting on the journey, Davido emphasized the hard work put into his album, 'Timeless,' and his patience in the creative process.

Asserting his confidence, Davido remarked, "If you ask me if I deserve Grammys in the past, I already need 20 Grammys." However, he acknowledged the importance of divine timing, stating, "But, like I said, God’s timing is the best. We will see what happens."

The 66th Grammy Awards are scheduled for Sunday, February 4, 2024, in Los Angeles. Davido's album 'Timeless' has earned a nomination in the Best Global Music Album category, while tracks 'Feel' and 'Unavailable' are contenders in the Best Global Music Performance and Best African Music Performance categories, respectively.

Breach Of Contract: Court Dismisses Davido’s Preliminary Objection

The Delta State High Court in Effurun has rejected the preliminary objection raised by Nigerian-American singer David Adedeji Adeleke, also known as Davido, and his company, Davido Music Worldwide Limited. The objection challenged the court's jurisdiction in hearing the breach of contract lawsuit filed against them by Brownhill Investment Company Limited concerning the annual 'Warri Again Concert.'

Justice Nduka Obi, the trial judge, also dismissed another objection raised by Davido Music Worldwide and Israel Afeare, challenging the court's jurisdiction in the defamation case filed against them.

In the ruling for Suit No. EHC/183/2023 between Brownhill Investment Company Limited and Davido & Davido Music Worldwide Limited, related to breach of contract, the court dismissed the defendant's argument that the case was a debt recovery matter and premature since the claimant did not issue a letter of demand for a refund before filing the case. The court concurred with the claimant's counsel, stating that the reliefs sought in the writ of summons indicated a breach of contract action, not requiring a prior letter of demand.

Regarding the defamation case, the court affirmed that the High Court of Delta State had territorial jurisdiction to hear and determine both cases. This was based on evidence that the claimant, a resident of Delta State, was present in the state when the alleged defamatory publications were posted online by the defendants. The court adjourned to hear all the cases filed against the defendants.

Despite discussing a potential out-of-court settlement, the claimant highlighted that concrete arrangements were not made because the defendants insisted on unacceptable terms. Brownhill Investments Company Limited, through its lawyer Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem, had sought N2 billion in general damages against Davido in the lawsuit.

Investigate Your Mother-In-Law Properly Before Going Deeply – Davido’s Aide, Israel DMW

Israel DMW, the personal logistics manager of renowned singer Davido, has shared valuable advice for single men contemplating marriage.

In a recent InstaStory post, Israel urged men to conduct a thorough background check on their potential mother-in-law before making a lifelong commitment.

Israel wrote, “Investigate properly ur supposed mother in law before going deeply. Especially the ones who left 2 marriages to take over another woman’s home with 4 children. I don talk my own oh.”

Israel's counsel comes in the aftermath of the dissolution of his marriage to Sheila Courage, which lasted only a year. He had previously taken to social media to expose alleged pressures from Sheila's family, claiming they demanded one million Naira for marrying their daughter, who was reportedly a virgin.

In a detailed Instagram post, Israel shared a bank transfer receipt of one million Naira, part of the money sprayed at the wedding. He expressed frustration over being compelled to share the money and purchase an iPhone 14 Promax worth 1.2 million Naira. Israel accused Sheila's family of being gold diggers and claimed that she abandoned him once she gained popularity on Instagram.

In response, Sheila refuted Israel's accusations, revealing that she left the marriage due to emotional and domestic abuse. The conflicting narratives surrounding their separation highlight the complexities of their relationship.

As Israel DMW offers advice on vetting potential in-laws, his experiences underscore the importance of thorough consideration before entering into a marital union.

I Don’t Want Money, Just Feature Me – Portable To Wizkid & Davido

Since bursting onto the mainstream scene, Portable has been a driving force for the inner city, using his music and attention-grabbing lifestyle to make waves.

The artist is again in the spotlight, with a special request for Nigerian megastars Wizkid and Davido.

In a video shared on his Instagram account, Portable responded to Wizkid's recent philanthropic gesture of giving rising Hype Man GOE 20 million naira. He reminded Nigerians that he was the one who initially urged Wizkid to extend his generosity to the streets. This claim is substantiated by Portable's appearance on the Honest Mind Podcast, where he called on Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy to show support for the grassroots.

Acknowledging Wizkid's response to his request by generously gifting Hypeman GOE, Portable has its appeal. In the video, he clarified that he isn't seeking monetary assistance from Wizkid; instead, he desires a verse from the megastar, believing it would translate into greater financial success for him. Similar expectations are directed at Davido, whom Portable asks for a life-changing verse.

Portable has been actively seeking his next major collaboration after having experienced mainstream success with the Olamide Baddo-assisted 'Zazzu Zeh' hit single. He has expressed his ambitions and requested collaborations with Afrobeat’s superstars, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, and Asake. Despite not receiving a verse from any of these stars yet, Portable remains unwavering in his pursuit of a collaboration that could propel him further into the realm of superstardom.
