I Don’t Wanna Do Song With Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid – Speed Darlington Gives Reasons

Darlington Okoye, widely known as Speed Darlington, a controversial Nigerian rapper, has made a bold statement asserting that he does not know Burna Boy, the Grammy award-winning singer.

He went on to describe Burna Boy as an attention seeker, citing an incident where he filmed a video in the bathroom solely to grab Burna Boy's attention.

These revelations were made during a recent interview with Hip TV. Speed Darlington expressed his disinterest in collaborating with Burna Boy, as well as with other prominent Nigerian artists such as Wizkid and Davido.

He made it clear that he has no intention of pursuing any musical projects with them.

He said, “I don’t wanna do song with Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, none of those names. I’m not interested because tomorrow it will become, ‘We made you.’ You didn’t make me, I was trending before you met me. I didn’t even know you. You made a video to get my attention in a bathroom. So, who know who? I’m talking about Burna. You made a video to get. Who know who? You, come to me. Otherwise, let it fail. I’m not interested.

“I heard the name Burna Boy not too long ago. But I’ve come to realise that has been putting in work for years. It’s just that the industry didn’t recognise him.

“I heard the name Burna Boy, I think 2017/2018. There was a video he made and he was basically giving me a hint; let’s do something. The video so how found me. This was 2017/2018. First of all, I thought he was an American artist. I had no idea who he was.”

Davido Thrills at BET Awards with Electrifying Performance

Nigerian afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, captivated the crowd with an exhilarating showcase at the 23rd BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Taking the stage, the OBO crooner treated the audience to a dynamic medley of his chart-topping hits "Feel" and "Unavailable" from his latest album, "Timeless." The energetic performance had the crowd bouncing and fully engaged.

In a separate interview with Billboard's Neena Rouhani, Davido discussed the explosive rise of afrobeats in the United States. Expressing his excitement about the night's performance, he said, "I feel good performing tonight. It should be big. It should be amazing; it’s the first time I’m performing at the [BET] Awards, and I’m excited."

Reflecting on his past experiences living in America as an African, particularly in Atlanta and Alabama, Davido shared how he would introduce African music to his American friends, who quickly developed an appreciation for it. He always believed that if given the chance to be heard, the afrobeats movement would eventually flourish.
