Costa Completes EPL Return To Help Ease Wolves’ Crisis

English Premier League clubside Wolverhampton Wanderers have snapped up former Chelsea striker Diego Costa to ease their striker crisis.

The former Spain international has signed a deal until the end of the season, having been a free agent.

Wolves had to appeal for a work permit after the 33-year-old did not automatically qualify and his initial application was rejected.

He told the club’s official site: “It’s a first-class club with very good players who know how to play football and having the chance to play in the Premier League again was the main thing.

Costa arrives with Wolves having lost new 15 million pounds signing Sasa Kalajdzic to a serious knee injury.

The striker suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear on his debut, a 1-0 win over Southampton.

Raul Jimenez is also struggling for form and fitness, with Lage’s side scoring just three goals in their opening six Premier League games.

Costa has been available since January after leaving Atletico Mineiro in Brazil.

He won two Premier League titles with Chelsea and scored 58 goals in 120 games in three years at Stamford Bridge.

Nigeria International Umar Sadiq Injured, Out Of The Season

Real Sociedad’s Nigeria international forward Umar Sadiq will face a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

The Super Eagles ace was forced off in the 38th minute of Sunday’s 2-1 league defeat at Getafe.

It was his third appearance with Sociedad since joining the Basque outfit in a €20 million move from Almeria on transfer deadline day to replace Alexander Isak who moved to Newcastle United.

Tests done on Monday showed he had torn his right ACL.

The LaLiga club confirmed Sadiq, 25, will undergo surgery in the coming days but did not reveal how long he will be out of action.

However, he could miss the rest of the season.

Sadiq, who was Sociedad’s top summer signing, made an immediate impact by scoring on his debut in a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid on September 3.

He started for Sociedad in their historic first win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in their Europa League group game on September 8.

Tuchel ‘Honoured’ To Be Part Of Chelsea History

Thomas Tuchel says he is "honoured" to have been part of Chelsea's history and his time at the club will "always have a special place in my heart".

Tuchel, 49, was sacked as a manager this week after his 100th game in charge ended in defeat by Dinamo Zagreb.

The Blues appointed Graham Potter from Brighton as his replacement the next day, with compensation for the Englishman his staff totalling £21m.

Tuchel said he was "devastated" his time at Chelsea had come to an end.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Paris St-Germain boss exited Stamford Bridge after winning three trophies in 20 months, including the 2020-21 Champions League.

But a club statement on Wednesday said the new owners believed it was "the right time" to bring in a new head coach.

The German said on social media: "This is one of the most difficult statements I have ever had to write - and it is one which I hoped I would not need to do for many years.

"This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally. Thank you so much to all the staff, the players and the supporters for making me feel very welcome from the start.

"The pride and joy I felt at helping the team to win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will stay with me forever.

"I am honoured to have been a part of this club's history and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart."
