Following this decision, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission took action by sealing Sahad Store, a well-known supermarket in the Garki area of Abuja, due to concerns regarding opaque pricing practices.

This move came just 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu and the governors convened to discuss the food crisis gripping the nation. During this meeting, they recognized the urgency of tackling product hoarding as a key component of addressing the crisis.

Speaking after the gathering, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, highlighted the importance of addressing the issue promptly. He emphasized the need for transparency in pricing and expressed concern over traders withholding essential food items from the market.

President Tinubu urged security agencies to work closely with state governors to put an end to product hoarding, underscoring the importance of ensuring food availability and affordability for all Nigerians.
