Roma Up to Fourth After Victory Over Udinese

Tammy Abraham scored the only goal as Roma overcame Udinese to move up to fourth in Serie A.

Roma suffered their first defeat under manager Jose Mourinho against Verona on Sunday, but Abraham’s finish from Riccardo Calafiori’s cross made it four victories from five league games.

They trail Napoli by three points, after the leaders maintained their 100% start with a 4-0 win against Sampdoria.
Inter Milan and AC Milan remain unbeaten and sit one point above Roma.

Inter won 3-1 at Fiorentina on Tuesday, while Milan beat Venezia 2-0 and struggling Juventus earned their first victory of the campaign against Spezia.

Abraham, who joined from Chelsea for £34m in August, has scored three times in seven games for Roma – and twice in five Serie A appearances.

Mourinho’s side, who had recorded six straight wins in all competitions prior to their 3-2 defeat at Verona, ended the game with 10 men after Lorenzo Pellegrini received a second booking in the 89th minute.

Juventus Secure First Serie A Win of Season at Spezia

Juventus produced a second-half fightback to earn their first Serie A victory of the season against Spezia.

Centre-back Matthijs de Ligt scored the winner from a corner six minutes after Federico Chiesa’s equaliser.

Spezia had produced their own comeback from a goal down through Emmanuel Gyasi and Janis Antiste, after Moise Kean’s low strike into the bottom corner gave Juventus a 28th-minute lead.

Victory moves Massimiliano Allegri’s side up to 12th in the table.

Victor Osimhen on Target As Napoli Thrash Udinese

Victor Osimhen started the ball rolling as Napoli climbed to the top of Serie A with a resounding 4-0 victory over Udinese at the Dacia Arena.

The visitors took the lead with 24 minutes gone when Osimhen, who had scored both goals as his side fought back to secure a 2-2 Europa League draw at Leicester on Thursday evening, struck from close range after running on to Lorenzo Insigne’s lob.

It might have been 2-0 within seven minutes when Fabian Ruiz’s long-range strike came back off the woodwork, but the reprieve proved temporary when defender Amir Rrahmani headed home Kalidou Koulibaly’s 35th-minute cross.

Gerard Deulofeu passed up an opportunity to reduce the deficit eight minutes before the break and Koulibaly effectively wrapped up the points within seven minutes of the restart with Napoli’s third, substitute Hirving Lozano’s late strike simply cementing a comfortable win which eased them from third place to first.

May 27, 2021 Antonio Conte Leaves Inter Mila By Mutual Consent

Antonio Conte Leaves Inter Mila By Mutual Consent

Antonio Conte has left Inter Milan by mutual consent, with Simone Inzaghi likely to replace him as head coach of the Serie A champions.

Conte has agreed a deal with the club's owners which will see him paid €7m (£6m) for the final year of his contract.

The former Chelsea boss guided Inter to their first Serie A title in 11 years but was embroiled in a dispute with the club's owners after they proposed a downsizing of his squad.

Inter chairman Steven Zhang reportedly asked Conte to cut his wage bill by 15 to 20 per cent and potentially sell players worth up to £70m this summer.

Conte was keen to keep up to eight players he sees as "untouchables" which include Milan Skriniar, Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

Lukaku is happy at Inter but Conte's departure, coupled with the club needing to cut costs, has put a question mark over his status at the club.

The club's strategy, according to reports, could include the sale of one of the club's star players and a move to focus on developing young talent.

Lazio manager Inzaghi is set to replace Conte at the San Siro. The former Italy striker has been in charge of the Rome club since 2016 and led them to a sixth-place finish this season, finishing six points above fierce rivals Roma.
