NBA Condemns Invasion of Justice Mary Odili’s Residence by Security Operatives

The Nigerian Bar Association has condemned the invasion by security operatives on the residence of a Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Mary Odili, insisting that as ministers in the temple of justice, lawyers must speak in one voice against any evil against the Bench.

The President of NBA, Olumide Akpata, said this at the Court Room of the Supreme Court of Nigeria during a valedictory special court session in honor of late Justice of the Apex Court, Justice Samuel Oseji.

Akpata said the NBA was dissatisfied with the denials emanating from the relevant agencies and departments of government and vowed that the organization would leave no stone unturned in its bid to unmask those behind this attack and to bring to justice anyone found culpable, no matter how highly placed.

CP Moves Into Third Position In The NBA’s All-Time Assist List

Giannis Antetoukounmpo Starts New NBA Campaign On A High With Win Over Brooklyn Nets

Giannis Antetokounmpo impressed on opening night as the Brooklyn Nets had no answer for the Finals MVP who took control on both ends to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a comfortable 127-104 victory on his side's first game of the 75th NBA season.

Although the "Greek freak" looked rusty early on, missing easy shots around the basket in the first quarter before battling for the offensive rebounds and putting them back at the second or third attempt, He grew into the game and dominated proceedings without ever really needing to move up a gear.

Antetokounmpo recorded 32 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists as the Bucks laid waste to a Nets team that had no answer for the Bucks' reigning Finals MVP.

Other players impressed for the Bucks; a notable mention would the Nigerian, Jordan Nwora, who registered 15 points, 6 rebounds and one huge block on Kevin Durant, to cap off an impressive outing from the player who plied his trade in the G-League last season.

In contrast, Brooklyn were oddly subdued, with only the pin-point shooting of new signing Patty Mills (21 points, 7-7 from deep) a positive from a contest in which they were outplayed from start to finish.

For the Milwaukee Bucks, this was a performance fitting of the jubilant pre-game ceremonies and worthy of their status as defending champions.

NBA Fumes Over Conflicting Court Orders

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the unfortunate and recurring trend of contradictory court decisions on political matters.

The NBA President, Olumide Akpata, said the actions of the six chief judges have brought the judiciary and the entire system of administration of justice to ridicule.

He said while the judiciary has made “invaluable contributions” to the development of the country, there are past failings that “would hopefully remain permanently interred in the dark annals of history”.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Justice Tanko Muhammad had summoned the Chief Judges of Rivers, Kebbi, Cross River, Anambra, Jigawa and Imo

States over conflicting ex parte orders emanating from Judges in their jurisdictions.
