House of representatives calls for immediate evacuation of Nigerians in Ukraine as Russian forces fired from all fronts

The Nigeria’s House of Representatives has ordered for immediate evacuation of Nigerians in Ukraine.

As a sequel to the adoption of the move by a member representing Kaduna, Ahmed Munir, the lower chamber of the National Assembly on Thursday charged the house to begin discussion with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to facilitate the immediate evacuation of Nigerians studying in Ukraine.

The House members were unanimous in their recognition of lives of Nigerians staying in Ukraine, adding that the situation in Ukraine at the moment called for a proactive action from the Federal Government.

Responding to the issue, the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, noted that the House would commence talks with Air Peace in order to ensure that Nigerians in Ukraine are rescued home.

Minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama in an interview said the federal government will arrange a special flight operation for Nigerians who are willing to be evacuated from Ukraine.

El-Rufai Backs National Assembly, Asks Buhari To Declare Bandits As Terrorists.

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare bandits causing mayhem in the North-West as terrorists.

El-Rufai, who made the call when he received the third quarter security report from the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in Kaduna, said the declaration of bandits as terrorists would inspire the Nigerian military to attack and kill the bandits without breaching international law.

The National Assembly had recently asked President Muhammadu Buhari to declare the bandits as terrorists.

President Buhari says VIPs, National Assembly member funding Igboho, Kanu

President Muhammadu Buhari, has fingered a serving member of the National Assembly as one of the financiers of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu; and the Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also called Sunday Igboho.

The President, who disclosed this in his Independence Day speech to the nation today, said his administration was pursuing the financiers whom he did not name.

He said, “Nigeria is for all of us. Its unity is not negotiable. And its ultimate success can only be achieved if we all come together with a common goal of having peace and prosperity for our nation.

“We shall continue to work on dialogue-based solutions to address legitimate grievances. But we remain ready to take decisive actions against secessionist agitators and their sponsors who threaten our national security.

“The recent arrests of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo, and the ongoing investigations being conducted have revealed certain high-profile financiers behind these individuals. We are vigorously pursuing these financiers including one identified as a serving member of the National Assembly.

“This is a clear example of how people abandon their national leadership positions for their selfish gains. Instead of preaching unity, they are funding and misleading our youths to conduct criminal acts that sometimes lead to unfortunate and unnecessary loss of lives and property.

“As the so-called leaders run abroad to hide, our innocent youths are misled and left in the streets to fight for their senseless and destructive causes.”
