The Inspector General of Police, USMAN BABA, has assured Nigerians that there was no plan to reinstate the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad into the Nigeria Police Force.

Force spokesman, FRANK MBA, disclosed this in a statement, issued in Abuja.

MBA said the clarification followed reports making the rounds both online and offline that the IGP had ordered the re-instatement of the disbanded SARS.

The #ENDSARS movement saw protests in Nigerian and all over the world with many condemning the extrajudicial activities of officers of the SARS team against Nigerians especially the young people.

IGP Rescinds Order Restricting Movement of Essential Workers

The Inspector-General of Police has rescinded an order restricting the movement of essential workers amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

Many essential workers last night were restricted from moving within Lagos at the beginning of the 8 pm curfew imposed to limit the spread of the virus.

According to security officials enforcing the order, health workers and journalists could not be allowed to move around after 8 pm.

However, in a statement late Tuesday, IGP MOHAMMED ADAMU said essential workers can now go about their essential duties.

Force Spokesman, FRANK MBA in the statement said the IGP had directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commands Commissioners of Police to give effect to these exemptions whilst enforcing the restriction orders.
