Gunmen Free Seven Inmates In Imo Prison Attack, Kill Cop

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed an attack on a Correctional Service Farm Settlement in the Umualomoke community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of the state.

The attack led to the release of seven inmates, the abduction of the officer in charge of the farm settlement, and the death of a police inspector.

In a statement by the PPRO, Henry Okoye, the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has deployed the Command’s Special Tactical Squad to go all out in synergy with the military and other sister security agencies and hunt down the perpetrators.

He also confirmed that the gunmen equally attacked the residence of the lawmaker representing Imo North Senatorial District, Patrick Ndubeze, located within the area.

Okoye noted that the Police Commissioner has mandated the tactical team to intensify efforts to ensure that the kidnapped officer is rescued unhurt and the fleeing inmates are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Gunmen Abduct Passengers Of Two Abuja-Bound Buses In Kogi State

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of a yet-to-be-ascertained number of travellers from Umuahia, Abia State, in two luxury buses in Inyele Eteke in the Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Friday, February 3, 2024.

A social media influencer, Chude Nnamdi, who broke the news on his X handle, said that the two buses belong to GIG and ABC Transports.

Chude said his wife was in one of the hijacked buses but could not ascertain the number of people in the two buses.

While confirming the incident, the Kogi State Police Command could not ascertain the number of people on the buses.

The state PPRO, SP William Aya, said the area commander who led his team to the area saw the two buses but did not see the occupants and could not ascertain the number of people on the two buses.

He added that the CP had deployed an additional tactical squad consisting of a Quick Response Unit, a Police Mobile Force, and a Counter-Terrorism Unit, as well as conventional police personnel, to the area to continue with the bush combing and to ensure all victims were rescued unhurt.

Police Confirm The Kidnapping Of Four Nasarawa University Students

The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has verified the invasion of a community in the state’s Keffi Local Government Area by gunmen, who kidnapped and took four students from the state’s university to an unknown destination.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event, explaining that the pupils were abducted in the early hours of Tuesday near Angwan Ka’are in the LGA.

He did, however, say that the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, has launched a manhunt for the perpetrators in order to save the victims’ lives.

Meanwhile, the names of the kidnapped students were discovered: Rahila Hanya, a 100-level student in the Science Laboratory Technology department; Josephine Gershon, a 100-level student in Computer Science; Rosemary Samuel, a 100-level student in Business Administration; and Goodness Samuel, a 100-level student in Geography.

Gunmen Abduct Suspended UNICAL’s Faculty Of Law Dean, Professor Cyril Ndifon

Police in Cross River has debunked the alleged abduction of the suspended Professor of Law and Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Professor Cyril Ndifon.

Police Spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, stated in Calabar that NDIFON was not kidnapped but was picked up by government security agents.

NDIFON’s son, David, had earlier told newsmen that gunmen invaded their residence at Akpabuyo in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River and fired gunshots sporadically before taking his father away.

He said the incident happened between 11pm on Wednesday and the early hours of Thursday.

The University had placed NDIFON on suspension over allegations bordering on sexual harassment of students, among others.
