I’ve Lost 17 Brand Deals Over Online Controversies – Phyna

Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna and the winner of Big Brother Naija's "Level Up," has opened up about the challenges in her brand relationships due to social media controversies.

In a recent interview on Doyin's Corner podcast with her colleague, Doyinsola David, Phyna shared that her constant disputes with critics and colleagues have led to the loss of 17 ambassadorial deals.

During the conversation, Phyna highlighted the negative impact of her public image on brand collaborations. She explained that a specific company refused to collaborate with her because of the prevailing perception that she was abusive. This belief gained traction after reports surfaced that she had allegedly slapped her ex-boyfriend, Groovy, for securing a deal behind her back that was originally intended for both of them.

Phyna emphasised that most unfavourable reports, particularly from bloggers, significantly tarnished her image. She recounted, "Two weeks ago, my manager and I calculated the number of deals I lost from last year until now. We counted 17 deals. I'm aware of a major brand that cited my alleged abusive behaviour as the reason for not working with me. They expressed their refusal, stating that they can't collaborate with someone perceived as an abuser, and this rejection coincided with the period when bloggers were reporting that I slapped someone."

The disclosure sheds light on the challenge’s individuals in the public eye, where online controversies can have a tangible impact on their professional relationships and opportunities.

Father Who Didn’t Raise Me Now Feels Entitled To My Money – Erigga Blows Hot

Nigerian rapper Erhiga Agarivbie, popularly known as Erigga, has candidly expressed his disappointment with his father's sense of entitlement to his success despite having minimal involvement in his upbringing.

Erigga disclosed that his father abandoned him at the tender age of eight, leaving him to navigate the challenges of life on his own. Now, as a successful musician, he faces demands from the same father who was absent during his formative years.

In a recent podcast interview, Erigga revealed that his father has been reaching out to him since he achieved fame, expecting financial support and care. The hip-hop artist shared that his stepbrothers, having experienced a similar lack of responsibility from their father, urged him to forgive their shared parent.

Erigga expressed his frustration with the entitlement mentality prevalent among some parents, questioning why his father now sought a share in his success when he had ample time to be present in his life earlier. Reflecting on his challenging upbringing, Erigga highlighted the difficulties he faced while growing up on the streets, emphasizing that he had to fend for himself from a young age.

He recounted the precarious situations and the tough decisions he had to make, alluding to a past involving activities he couldn't openly discuss. Despite the hardships, Erigga developed a passion for music at a young age, giving him a clear direction and purpose.

Addressing the newfound expectations from his father, Erigga asserted his independence, stating that he had essentially raised himself and couldn't credit his father for his achievements. He acknowledged his stepbrothers' plea for forgiveness but underscored that the conversation was only taking place because of his current status as a successful artist.

Erigga's candid remarks shed light on the complex dynamics of family relationships and the challenges faced by individuals who strive for success despite adversity in their formative years.
