PEPT Judgment: Atiku, Obi Head To Supreme Court

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has rejected the judgment of the Presidential Election Petitions Court on the February 25, 2023 poll, describing it as against justice.

Obi, who spoke in Onitsha, Anambra State, acknowledged the Tribunal’s adherence to statutory time frame and expressed respect for the court’s views and rulings but disagreed with the judgment’s rationale and final conclusions.

He announced his intention, in his capacity as a presidential candidate and on behalf of the Labour Party, to immediately challenge the judgment through the appellate process, as permitted by the Constitution.

Highlighting the fact that the Tribunal is not the ultimate authority in the matter, Obi emphasized that the responsibility now rests with the Supreme Court, which he expressed confidence in.

He urged Nigerians to maintain their focus, steadfastness, and commitment to peaceful processes while emphasizing the importance of adhering to the rule of law.

Presidential Election: PEPC Admits Atiku, PDP’s Documents Against Tinubu’s Victory

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar yesterday tendered documents in their joint petition challenging the declaration of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election.

The documents included, Certified True Copies of the print out of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS), in respect of 33 states of the Federation with the exception of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Lagos state.

Other documents tendered were Certified True Copies of form EC8 As, for Abia state, Bayelsa, Kaduna and Ogun states, which were duly certified by INEC.

The PDP prayed the court to deem the documents as read pursuant to provisions of paragraph 46(a) of the first schedule of the Electoral Act.Having tendered the documents, the Chairman of the court, Justice Haruna Tsammani, admitted them as evidence.

Speaking after the proceedings, PDP’s counsel Chris Uchesaid, after pushing the documents they will proceed to call witnesses.

Meanwhile, the Petition of Labour Party and its Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, could not be heard due to ill health of two Key staff in the Secretariat of the party.

Counsel to Obi and the LP, Awa Kalu, made this known at the resumed hearing of the case.

He asked for an adjournment to today, June 1, for continuation.

The five-man panel of Justices led by Justice Haruna Tsammani subsequently adjourned hearing of their petition to today, June 1.

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom Asks PDP’s Atiku To Apologize To Him For Outburst Or Will Lose The State’s Votes

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has called on the presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), ATIKU ABUBAKAR, to apologise to him and people of the state over his outburst against him and the people.

The governor also told Atiku not to think that Fulanis alone could make him the president.

Ortom Stated this when he addressed youths from Jemgbagh axis which comprises Gboko, Buruku and Tarka local government areas who protested in solidarity with him.

The former vice president drew the ire of the governor during the interactive forum organised by the Arewa Consultative Forum in Kaduna recently when he (Atiku) accused Ortom of profiling Fulanis.

Atiku had also in his condolence message said, “When our people are well integrated into communities where they live, work, pay taxes and raise their children, they’d be obligated to reciprocate the love and acceptance”.

Atiku Visits Yola, Welcomes Defectors To PDP

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the PDP for the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar has assured Nigerians that his mission in politics in over 30 years had been to serve the people.

He made this known in Yola, Adamawa State in an event where thousands of supporters of the All Progressives Congress in the state decamped to the People’s Democratic Party.

According to the PDP presidential flag bearer, if elected he will tackle the various challenges confronting the country and ensure that there is peace, progress, abundance as well as create wealth for the country.

It was the first time he was visiting his hometown after emerging as the flag-bearer of the PDP in the presidential primaries held in Abuja.

Also present at the rally were Atiku’s running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, Former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu and Senator Dino Melaye among others.
