Tinubu Asks Supreme Court To Dismiss Atiku’s Appeal

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the appeal filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging his victory in the 2023 presidential election.

The President described the appeal as abusive in nature and prayed for its dismissal.

President Tinubu insisted that Atiku and his party failed to prove all their allegations and submissions at the Tribunal.

Recall that Atiku and the PDP had filed a petition challenging the outcome of the presidential election and the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, in its judgment on September 6th held that Atiku failed to prove all the averments in his petition.

Now, Tinubu submitted that the tribunal was correct in arriving at its verdict and affirming his election.

He urged the apex court to affirm the decision of the lower court while dismissing the appeal in its entirety, as the same is lacking in merit and bona fide.

Five Feared Dead In Clash Between Two Osun Communities, As Governor Adeleke Gives ‘Shoot-At-Sight’ Order

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has issued a shoot-at-sight order to soldiers and other security operatives deployed to Ifon and Ilobu towns to quench the communal clash between the towns.

The age long hostility assumed a dangerous dimension on Wednesday evening when houses were burnt and other properties destroyed.

Several people have been reportedly killed in the clash between the two neighboring towns over land dispute.

As a result of the dispute, residents of the towns have abandoned their homes and moved to neighboring communities to avoid being killed.

Although no official figure has been released on the number of people killed, residents said over five people lost their lives.

Reacting to the development, Governor Adeleke called on traditional rulers in the state to ensure peace in their towns and prevent communal clashes.

A resident, one Muideen Azeez, said all his properties were burnt down but he escaped death.

APC Says Atiku Is Suffering From Serial Electoral Losses Over Allegation That President Tinubu Forged Certificate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the push by the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, for the nullification of President Bola Tinubu’s win, as that of someone who is suffering from multiple electoral losses.

Atiku, who lost in the 2023 election and also to Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, had addressed the press after the Chicago State University (CSU) released President Tinubu’s academic credentials which he earlier demanded on the suspicion that the Nigerian leader submitted fake documents for the 2023 exercise.

But speaking on a monitored programme hours after Atiku’s briefing, the Spokesperson of the APC, Felix Morka, faulted the former Vice President’s address.

According to him, Atiku and his team had filed a suit to stop Tinubu’s election on the basis that he did not attend Chicago State University and not a case of forgery as claimed by the PDP candidate.

Tribunal Judgment: APC Lampoons Atiku, Obi, Opposition Attacks INEC

The APC has slammed Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, for criticizing the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which upheld President Tinubu’s election.

This is against the backdrop of Atiku and Obi attack on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its conduct of the polls.

Responding to a statement from Atiku’s Media Aide, Paul Ibe, that the election was rigged, the Director of Publicity for the APC, Bala Ibrahim, slammed the PDP candidate, saying it takes a criminally-minded person to understand how a system is hacked.

While stating that he had no problem with the Adamawa State-born politician heading to the Supreme Court to challenge the verdict, Ibrahim labeled him as a bad sportsman.

Lampooning the former Vice President further, Ibrahim accused him of having ‘a compromised mind.’

Meanwhile, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC has congratulated President Bola Tinubu over his victory at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

The APC’s NWC stated this in a statement signed by its National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
