Jega-Led Committee, Kebbi, Others Demand Livestock Ministry

The National Livestock Reforms Committee has recommended that President Bola Tinubu should create a Ministry of Livestock Resources to, among other deliverables, reduce the decades-long gory conflicts between farmers and nomadic cattle herders nationwide.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, disclosed this to State House correspondents shortly after he led the Committee in an audience with the President at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

This formed part of 21 recommendations captured in a document submitted to the President to enhance the Federal Government’s holistic response to the lingering cases of bloodshed.

Addressing the Committee, President Tinubu promised to address the menace of herders/farmers clash.

Human Rights Lawyer, Femi Falana, Warns Nigerian Leaders Against Provoking Citizens Into Revolt

Human Rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has said that the high level of poverty in Africa is responsible for the wave of coups in the continent.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria stated this at a Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) national symposium held in Abuja, under the theme: “Nigerian Economy and the Crisis of Survival, Robbing the Poor to Pay the Rich”.

Falana stressed that despite the poverty in the country, the National Assembly allocated billions to itself.

He subsequently cautioned Nigerian governments against taking the citizens for granted.

His comment comes on the heels of recent coups in Africa. The latest in Gabon where soldiers seized power, ending decades of the Bongo dynasty’s reign.

In his own remarks at the event, NLC President, Joe Ajaero, spoke on the unworkability of government measures to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians.

Tinubu Gets Right To Work, Removes Fuel Subsidy

President Bola Tinubu declared on  Wednesday that the age of gasoline subsidies was over, saying that it was unsustainable.

He also vowed to evaluate the previous administration’s naira redesign strategy and unify the country’s exchange rate windows.

The President also stated that the February 25 presidential election that brought him to power was the most difficult to win since the First Republic, as well as the best so far.

He stated that his triumph does not make him more Nigerian than others, and that the opposition’s wisdom will not be ignored.

President Tinubu, in his inaugural speech at Eagle Square in Abuja, said Nigerians had faced hardships that would have caused other societies to crumble, and vowed that the mandate bestowed upon him was not wasted, and that he would govern rather than rule.
