July 6, 2023 I Was Nervous During Performance At King Charles III’s Coronation – Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage, the acclaimed Nigerian singer, has opened up about her experience battling nervousness during her groundbreaking performance at the coronation of King Charles III, the British monarch.

Being the first Nigerian artist to perform at a British royal event, Tiwa Savage thrilled the audience at the King Charles III's coronation concert and Big Lunch in March.

In a recent appearance on the Good Morning Britain TV Show, Tiwa Savage candidly admitted that she felt nervous in the initial moments of her performance at Windsor Castle. However, she quickly gathered herself and embraced the significance of the moment.

"It was beautiful [to perform for the King]. It was such an amazing moment to represent the Commonwealth and to be on that stage," Tiwa Savage shared.

Acknowledging her nerves, she continued, "I was nervous, I will say the first few seconds. But as soon as I started singing, I said, 'I have to just get swept away by the crowd'."

Tiwa Savage, often referred to as the 'Queen of Afrobeats', also spoke highly of the British Queen Consort, Camilla, describing her as "very lovely" during the TV show.

Prior to her historic performance at the coronation ceremony, Tiwa Savage had the opportunity to meet with the Queen Consort, forging a connection between the two remarkable women.

Tiwa Savage's inclusion in the prestigious royal event marked a significant milestone in her career and demonstrated the global reach and impact of Nigerian music on the international stage.
