Spurs Manager, Ange Postecoglou Named Premier League Manager Of The Month

Ange Postecoglou, head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for August 2023.

The 58-year-old joined Spurs from Celtic in June as the club’s permanent successor to Antonio Conte, and he has had a successful first season in north London.

Despite losing all-time leading scorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich just one day before the start of the Premier League season, Postecoglou’s Tottenham were unbeaten in August.

They started the season with a credible 2-2 draw against Brentford before winning their first win a week later at home against Manchester United, defeating the Red Devils 2-0.

Tottenham then finished August with a 2-0 win at Bournemouth. They are now second in the Premier League table after a 5-2 win against Burnley ahead to the September international break.

Due to his charm and the team’s refreshing aggressive style of play, Postecoglou, the first Greek and first Australian manager in the Premier League, has been an instant fan favorite at Tottenham.

They return to action at home on Saturday against Sheffield United before traveling to north London rivals Arsenal the following Sunday.

EPL: Martial Departs Man Utd Training Ahead Of Brighton Clash

Manchester United's Anthony Martial Spotted Leaving Training Ground After Brief Appearance

Anthony Martial, the Manchester United forward, was seen departing the club's training session just four minutes after arriving. This occurred ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Brighton on Saturday.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Martial arrived at Carrington training ground in his Mercedes G Wagon at 8:55 a.m. but swiftly left at 8:59 a.m. The specific reason for his hasty departure remains unclear.

It's worth noting that the 27-year-old has been grappling with recent injury concerns. He was absent from Manchester United's entire pre-season due to fitness issues.

However, he returned to training at the commencement of the 2023/24 Premier League season and secured a spot on the bench during the initial 1-0 victory against Wolves.

Since then, Martial has participated in all three subsequent matches for Manchester United and started in their 3-1 loss to Arsenal earlier this month. During the summer transfer window, Martial's future was uncertain, and he was a player Manchester United were open to receiving offers for.

Martial has one year remaining on his existing contract with Manchester United.

Super Falcons Striker Oparanozie Retires From Football

Super Falcons striker Desire Oparanozie has officially announced her retirement from football at all levels.

Oparanozie on Wednesday confirmed that she will be hanging up her boots for both country and club in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

"To my fans, family, and friends, thank you for the show of love and support over the years. It's time to take a bow, as I believe there's no better time than now," she wrote.

"I am officially announcing my retirement from professional football for both club and country.

"To every team and coach I have played for, to every mate I have played alongside, and to every opponent I have played against, thank you all for being part of this incredible journey.

"Thank you, football, thank you, Nigeria," the vastly experienced Super Falcons attacker posted.

Oparanozie last featured in a football match during the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand last month.

In her final appearance, the 29-year-old failed to score a spot-kick after coming on as a substitute as the Super Falcons fell 4-2 via penalty shootout to the Three Lionesses of England in the second round of the World Cup.

Having made her senior team debut for the Super Falcons of Nigeria in 2010, she played at the 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023 editions of the Women's World Cup.

She was part of the Super Falcons teams, which won the 2010-, 2014-, 2016-, and 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) titles.

Oparanozie kicked off her club career at Bayelsa Queens before moving to Delta Queens, after which she secured a transfer abroad.

She last played for Wuhan Chegu Jianghan FC, but before then, she featured for clubs in European countries such as France, Turkey and Germany.
