May 6, 2021 Women Protest In Uyo Seeks Justice Against The Gruesome Murder Of Iniobong Umoren

About 2,000 women have protested against the gruesome murder of INIOBONG UMOREN, a University of Uyo graduate of Philosophy, killed in the process of job hunting.

MARTHA UDOM EMMANUEL, wife of Akwa Ibom state governor, Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, FELICIA BASSEY joined other women in Akwa Ibom State in the ongoing protests to seek justice for Ms UMOREN and other victims of gender-based violence.

The women took over the Uyo city centrecarrying placards with inscriptions: Stand in Solidarity with Akwa Ibom State women and demand justiceforIniubongUmoren," while chanting, "we want justice for Iniubong.

The women marched from Ibom Connection to Nwaniba and later converged on Wellington Bassey Way leading to Government House, where the governor's wife and the lawmaker took turns to address them.
