Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, widely known as Joeboy, a prominent Nigerian singer, has attributed the rise of young artists in the country to the influence of Grammy-winning superstar Wizkid.

In a recent episode of the Body & Soul audiovisual podcast, Joeboy expressed his belief that Wizkid played a pivotal role in instilling confidence and inspiring young talents to pursue their dreams of stardom at a young age.

Wizkid, through his own journey and remarkable achievements, has become a beacon of hope and a symbol of success for emerging artists in Nigeria.

His rise to global prominence has shattered barriers and proved that age is not a limiting factor in attaining greatness in the music industry.

The ‘Baby’ crooner said, before Wizkid, it was difficult for young artistes to blow early.

Joeboy said he knew he was going to be a star after meeting Wizkid for the first time.

He said, “One thing I really appreciate about Wizkid is that he made young artistes believe that they could pop [hit stardom] at a young age. Before Wiz, if any artiste pop, it was probably at a very later stage in life. But after Wiz young people started coming through.”
