October 26, 2023 Tinubu Appoints INEC RECS For 9 States

President Tinubu has approved the appointment of nine new Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a five-year term each.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said in a statement on Wednesday that the appointments are subject to the confirmation of the Nigerian Senate.

They include Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi (Lagos State), Mr. Isah Ehimeakne (Edo State), Bamidele Agbede (Ekiti State), Jani Bello (Gombe State), and Yahaya Bello (Nasarawa State).

He also appointed RECs for Kwara, Niger, Zamfara and Rivers states.

President Tinubu urged the new appointees to abide by the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct in discharging their duties.

He added that this is following his determination to facilitate the establishment of a new and sustainable standard of transparent, fair, and conflict-free electoral conduct in Nigeria.
