The Nigerian military has again lost an army officer, while soldiers were wounded in an ambush by terrorists on the Buratai-Buni Gari Road in Borno State.

A statement by the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Buba Edward, the ambush by the terrorists resulted in a fierce gun battle with the troops of Operation Hadin Kai.

However, it said six of the terrorists were also killed during the bloody encounter.

General Buba said the wounded personnel are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

He said troops recovered five AK-47 rifles and 103 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the terrorists.

He, however, said troops are on the trail of the remaining terrorists who laid ambush on them.

This is coming weeks after 17 army personnel who went on a peacekeeping mission were killed in an ambush by irate youths in Delta State.
