Slavia Prague Defender Ondrej Kudela Given 10-Match Ban For Racist Behavior

Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela has been given a 10-match ban by UEFA for "racist behaviour" towards Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara, who will serve a three-game suspension.

Kamara said he was racially abused by Kudela during the second leg of Rangers' Europa League last-16 tie against Slavia at Ibrox on March 18. Kudela insisted he swore at a Rangers player after being fouled but denied using racist language.

The centre-back had been provisionally suspended for one match as UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings, which ruled him out of his side's 1-1 draw at Arsenal last week.

The Czech Republic international will now be ineligible for the next nine games played by either his club in Europe or his country, including this summer's European Championship.

As it stands, Kudela will miss the remainder of Slavia's Europa League campaign - they play the second leg of their quarter-final tie against Arsenal on Thursday night - plus at least five matches at Euro 2020, including the Czech Republic's group games against Scotland and England.

Ondrej Kudela Suspended As UEFA Continue Investigations Into Rascism Allegations

The one-match ban issued to Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela "does little to instill confidence" in UEFA's approach to eradicating racism, says Rangers player Glen Kamara's lawyer.

Kudela, 34, denies Kamara's claim he racially abused him during Slavia's 2-0 Europa League win at Ibrox on 18 March.

The Czech has been given a provisional suspension for insulting an opponent while UEFA investigate the allegation

If found guilty of racism, he could face a 10-match ban.

UEFA says it is also investigating Kamara's behavior. Slavia claim Kudela was assaulted in the tunnel after the match in Glasgow.

Kudela will miss Thursday's quarter-final first-leg meeting with Arsenal. However, he was expected to be absent for the game in London anyway, owing to an injury sustained against Wales on duty with the Czech Republic.

A statement from UEFA concludes that more information "will be made available once the CEDB [Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body] has taken a decision in due course".

Liverpool CL Tie At RB Leipzig Won’t Take Place In Germany

Liverpool's Champions League round-of-16 first-leg match at RB Leipzig will not be able to take place in Germany, government officials have confirmed.

The German government has banned entry on all arrivals from areas affected by Covid-19 mutations until at least February 17, with the only exceptions made for German citizens or residents.

The ban came into effect on Saturday and it has been confirmed there will not be any special allowances for Liverpool.

A statement from the German government read: "The Corona Protection Ordinance passed by the German government last Friday provides for only a few exceptions and no special regulations for professional athletes.

UEFA said they are in discussions with the German FA and German government about a solution.

UEFA recently changed its competition rules allowing ties to be switched, so the first leg on this occasion could be staged at Anfield.
