CBN Explains Latest Cash Withdrawal Limit To Senate Panel

The Senate has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to considerably adjust its recently announced cash withdrawal limits in response to the public outcry against the new policy.

In its resolution, the red chamber also asked its Committee on Banking and Finance to embark on aggressive oversight of the apex bank as it implements the policy and give periodic reports to the Senate.

The Senate’s resolution was reached after an exhaustive debate by the lawmakers who attended Wednesday’s plenary session.

Some lawmakers argued that the withdrawal threshold set by the CBN is unrealistic considering the economic situation in the country.

Some other legislators said they were in support of the policy.

Airline Operators Warn Of Impending Flight Disruptions, Cancellations Over Aviation Fuel Scarcity

Nigerian airlines, under the aegis of Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) have said there will be disruption of scheduled flight operations over the growing scarcity of aviation fuel.

The spokesperson of AON, Obiora Okonkwo said this in a public notice he issued.

The statement said the scarcity of aviation fuel is impacting negatively on the seamless conduct of air transport operations and “would lead to flight rescheduling, and, or, cancellations”.

The statement said the association and its members are working very hard, and in alliance with product marketers, government and relevant stakeholders, to ensure availability and proper pricing of aviation fuel in the country.

Two weeks ago, some airlines had complained about the rising cost of aviation fuel and threatened to shut down operations.

The proposed strike was aborted after Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker, House of Representatives, convened a meeting of all stakeholders in the industry, including marketers and the Central Bank of Nigeria.

6 Businesses You Can Start With Little Or No Money

"The country is hard" is an anthem on the lips of every Nigerian now. Nigeria is currently the third poorest country in the world and getting a means of income seems so difficult. With that said, having a side hustle in these times won't hurt.

If  you have always wanted to start your own company. You're sick of working for someone else and crave the freedom and responsibility that comes with owning your own business.

The problem is that you don't have a lot of starting capital—or any at all. That means you're probably out of luck, right?

Wrong! Here are 10 businesses that you can start for almost nothing (and those that aren't completely free are very low-cost). They do not necessitate costly training or degrees, expensive equipment, or a large amount of materials, space, or product.

Having said that, many of the businesses listed below require regular access to a computer, the internet, and possibly a car. However, if you already have those sorted, jump right in—you're bound to find a business idea that fits your skill set if you think creatively!

Here are 6 businesses you can start with little or no capital:

BLOGGING

While it is not a novel concept, monetized blogging is always a popular option for a low-cost business.

When it comes to making money from your blog, you have a plethora of options, such as affiliate partnerships, producing eBooks, and offering online courses and webinars. Some of these are more effective than others, as certain blog niches are more popular and easier to monetize than others. Beauty, food, and parenting blogs, for example, are among the most popular niches and, as a result, will be easier to monetize (though you will face stiffer competition).

It is worth noting, however, that monetizing your blog will work best if you choose a topic about which you are truly passionate and personally invested.

Hit-And-Run Victim Breaks Silence Timaya Left Me In Pool Of Blood

Timaya Inetimi, Nigerian musician, was accused of hit-and-run accident last week, prompting police summons and social media frenzy.
Osinubi Damilola, the victim, has broken her silence days after the disaster, revealing her own side of the event.
She claims that after beating her on March 2, the singer fled, “leaving me in my own pool of blood.”

In a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday, she added, “Not only that he dragged me on the road where I sustained injuries on my face, my two knees, my right hand, all my acrylic nails forcefully pulled out before I knew it, he ran away leaving me in my own pool of blood.

“Then passerby rushed me to a nearby pharmacy where I managed to call my husband before I was later taken to Reedingtton Hospital where I received about 15 stitches on my face and other treatment was administered before I was later discharged later in the evening and was taken to General hospital for further treatment.”

She further accused the singer of bullying her “as a woman” when she confronted him about hitting her car.

“How can you tell the whole world you didn’t notice you hit a car? I knocked on your side window to draw your attention only for you to bully me as a woman,” she wrote.

Damilola also expressed her displeasure that the artist has not personally apologized to her, claiming that Timaya was not contrite for the accident.

She added in the caption, “Timaya Inetimi @timayatimaya you are wicked and heartless. You painted your wicked act of hit and run with emotion.” Noting that the singer wouldn’t have reacted if he wasn’t called out on social media, Damilola Said, “Your conscience will continue to judge you cause you intentionally hit me off with your green G wagon boasting that you are a celebrity.

“Your lawyer came and sympathized with me in the general hospital at about 10:30 pm and your lawyer said this is too much for someone to let it slide. “The pains you inflicted on me by your recklessness and no respect for womanhood. The permanent scar you inflicted on me intentionally. All I want is justice as he isn’t feeling remorse because he should not go scot free to serve as a deterrent for others.”

Timaya denied leaving the victim in his answer to the victim’s sister who had raised the alarm about the accident on social media.
