Man City Extend Winning Run To 21 Games With Comfortable Victory Over Wolves.

Manchester City have extended their winning run to 21 games in all competitions by comfortably easing past Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Their 4-1 victory courtesy of three goals inside the final 10 minutes means City have not dropped points in the league since drawing with West Bromwich Albion on 15 December and are now 15 points clear at the top of the table.

During that time they have played 21 games in all competitions, reached the final of the League Cup, the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and taken control of their last-16 Champions League tie against Borussia Monchengladbach.

An unlikely second-half equaliser from Conor Coady - cancelling out Leander Dendoncker's first-half own goal - had threatened to thwart City's pursuit of a 15th consecutive Premier League win.

The league leaders face second-placed Manchester United on Sunday with the chance to move another step closer to the title.

Man City Earn Comfortable First Leg Advantage Over Monchengladbach

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says his side "have to be more clinical" despite seeing another dominant display sweep aside Borussia Monchengladbach for a 19th successive win.

Guardiola's team - favorites to win their first Champions League title this season - were far too good for their meek last-16 opposition in Budapest, and perhaps should have added to the first-leg lead given to them by Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus.

"In general, we controlled the game. Unfortunately we were not clinical enough up front," Guardiola told BT Sport.

"That is something we have to improve in this competition. Up front we have to be more clinical. In this competition you have to be perfect to make sure you go through."

Silva headed in a wonderful cross from Joao Cancelo to open the scoring, before the same two players combined to lay on the second for Jesus.

Gladbach, appearing at this stage of the competition for the first time in 43 years, had no answer and would need something close to a sporting miracle to turn the tie around when the sides meet in Manchester on 16 March.

Sheffield United pulled off one of the shocks of the season as title-chasing Manchester United were beaten 2-1 by Chris Wilder's improving side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side had the chance to leapfrog Manchester City back into top spot but froze under the pressure against bottom-of-the-league Blades, who had only won once in the Premier League this season.

Kean Bryan headed home the opener when taking advantage of some questionable goalkeeping from David de Gea but former Sheffield United man Harry Maguire scored his first goal at Old Trafford to level it up.

A late siege on the Sheffield United goal was expected but Chris Wilder's substitution to bring on Oliver Burke paid off as he struck the winner via a big deflection off Axel Tuanzebe.

The result leaves Manchester United a point behind City, who have a game in hand, while the great escape could be on for Wilder's boys. They are 10 points from safety.

Man City Beat Man Utd To Reach Carabao Cup Final

Manchester City deservedly beat Manchester United to reach the Carabao Cup final and will now face Tottenham at Wembley as they look to win the competition for a fourth straight year.

Second-half goals from John Stones and Fernandinho secured their progress as City cut loose after a first period in which both sides had goals disallowed.

Stones exposed poor United set-piece defending when he nudged home Phil Foden's free-kick from close range five minutes after the restart.

Pep Guardiola's side looked the more likely scorers afterwards, despite United's increasing desperation, and when Anthony Martial and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could only combine to clear a corner to the edge of their own box, Fernandinho drilled a first-time volley into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

City will equal Liverpool's record of winning the League Cup four times in a row if they beat Jose Mourinho's Spurs on Sunday, 25 April.

It will be a first final meeting between Guardiola and Mourinho since 2011, when the current Spurs boss' Real Madrid side denied Barcelona the treble by winning the Copa del Rey.
