Messi Scores Another Stunning Brace As Inter Miami Defeat Fc Dallas.

Lionel Messi's stunning brace helped Inter Miami seal a dramatic victory against FC Dallas to reach the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup on Sunday.

FC Dallas led 4-2 with 10 minutes left but two late goals took the game to a penalty shootout.

Miami won the shootout 5-3 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

Miami were winless in 11 before Messi's arrival but have now won four in a row.

The former Barcelona and Paris St-Germain forward opened the scoring after six minutes, sweeping a curling shot inside the near post from outside the penalty area, but Dallas were 3-1 ahead with just over an hour played.

Midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi reduced the deficit for Miami but a Robert Taylor own goal restored Dallas' two-goal cushion.

Miami were given hope in the 80th minute when Marco Farfan headed a Messi cross into his own net, before the 36-year-old World Cup winner curled home a stunning free-kick to level the tie five minutes later, taking his tally to seven goals in four appearances.

Messi set Miami on their way in the penalty shootout with former Barcelona team-mate Sergio Busquets also keeping his cool from 12 yards as Paxton Pomykal's miss for Dallas proved costly.

Inter Miami are the first club to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup, which debuted in 2019 and involves teams from the United States and Mexico competing in a knockout format.

Arsenal Striker Gabriel Jesus To Miss Start Of Season After Undergoing Knee Surgery

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus will miss the start of the Premier League season and be out for "a few weeks" after undergoing knee surgery, Mikel Arteta has confirmed.

The Brazil forward has undergone a "procedure" on his knee, Arteta said after Arsenal's penalty shoot-out win over Monaco to secure the Emirates Cup on Wednesday.

"Unfortunately, he had a little procedure this morning," Arteta said. "He's had some discomfort in his knee that caused him some issues so they had to go in. It's not something major but he's going to be out for a few weeks.

"It's a big blow because we had him back to his best, especially with the way he played against Barcelona and he was in good condition but unfortunately we lost him.

"We had to look at it and we had to make a decision and the best one is to protect the player and get him back as quick as possible. We decided to do it."

The Arsenal boss also revealed Jesus' latest set-back was related to a previous knee injury suffered during last winter's World Cup, which forced him to miss most of the second half of the season.

"He had some irritation in the knee and we had to get it resolved," Arteta added.

The 26-year-old started Arsenal's previous pre-season friendly, a 5-3 win over Barcelona on Thursday in the US, and played 79 minutes before being singled out for praise by Arteta after the game.

August 2, 2023 Sadio Mane Departs Bayern Munich to Team Up with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr

Sadio Mane Departs Bayern Munich to Team Up with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr

Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has made a significant move, leaving Bayern Munich to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, where he will play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite an initially promising start at Bayern, the 31-year-old's season was deemed underwhelming, with 12 goals in 38 games.

Mane's time at Bayern was not without challenges, and it was reported that he was involved in a physical altercation with Leroy Sane in the Manchester City dressing room after a Champions League defeat. However, it appears that the German champions have managed to recoup a substantial part of the £35 million they paid Liverpool for Mane just a year ago.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of Bayern, acknowledged that Mane had faced difficulties since his move from Anfield. He stated that the Senegal player had not experienced an "easy year" with the club and hadn't been able to contribute as much as everyone, including himself, had hoped.

Earlier on Tuesday Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel said he and Mane agreed "it was the best solution to untie the knot".

"We had a long, big hug and we both agreed we don't like what's happening now, but we think it's for the best in this situation," said the Bayern coach.

"Sometimes things don't work out as everybody wants. I have always had a very good relationship with him and this will stay.

"I can totally understand he feels hurt and I also wouldn't feel happy if things like this happened.

"Obviously it's something that we didn't bring into the full potential, which is my responsibility, but in this particular situation it was the best solution to untie the knot."
