Rivers Court Strikes Out Suit Against Obaseki Over Edo PDP Primaries

A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has struck out a suit seeking to bar Governor GODWIN OBASEKI from contesting the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship primary scheduled for tomorrow Thursday in Benin City.

The Court took the decision after parties to the suit,agreed out-f-court settlement and withdrew the matter which was before Justice EMMANUEL OBILE.

The court took a recess in the morning to allow parties in the suit, amicably settle their contentions out of court.

The coast is now clear for Governor GODWIN OBASEKI to clinch the PDP governorship ticket after losing the bid to do so, in his former party APC.

You will recall that one of the PDP governorship aspirants, OMOREGIE OGBEIDE-IHAMA, had approached the court yesterday seeking disqualification of OBASEKI from the exercise.

Ize-Iyamu Emerges Edo APC Gov Candidate

OSAGIE IZE-IYAMU emerges Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Edo state.

OSAGIE IZE-IYAMU defeated two other aspirants PIUS ODUBU and OSARO OBAZEE to emerge the winner.

The gubernatorial poll in Edo state is scheduled to hold September 19.

One Person

One person has been arrested by the Edo State Police Command in connection with the rape and murder of the 100-level Microbiology student of the University of Benin, Miss VERA UWAILA OMOZUWA.

This comes as President, BUHARI on his verified Twitter handle, urged the police to ensure that UWAILA’s killers were brought to justice.

Spokesman for the command, CHIDI NWABUZOR, who disclosed this, said the suspect was arrested following the screening of fingerprints on the fire extinguisher allegedly used to smash the deceased’s head.

According to NWABUZOR, operatives of the command arrested the suspect after the Area Commander of the Ikpoba Hill Police Station mobilised his men to the scene.

Her killing sparked outrage and protests in Benin, Lagos and Abuja, with the hashtag, #JusticeForUwa, trending on the social media.

Osagie Ize-Iyamu emerges Edo APC’s Consensus Candidate; Picks Guber Nomination Form

Pastor OSAGIE IZE-IYAMU has emerged the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC faction believed to be loyal to National Chairman of the party, Comrade ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE.

IZE-IYAMU, a former Secretary to Edo State Government, SSG emerged on Tuesday night in Abuja through consensus arrangement.

He is expected to slug it out with Governor GODWIN OBASEKI for the direct primary of the party slated for June 22.

Meanwhile, IZE-IYAMU has however collected the nomination form for the governorship ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

Edo state governorship election is slated for September 19, 2020.
