January 26, 2024 Supreme Court Verdict Marks End Of Distractions—Fubara

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that his recent triumph at the Supreme Court has ended the legal challenges that distracted his administration over the past eight months.

Despite the hurdles, he affirms his unwavering commitment to the purpose for which he was elected, vowing not to let anything divert the governance of the state.

In the Rivers State governorship election, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by the All-Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Tonye Cole, further solidifying Fubara's position. In expressing his gratitude, Fubara thanked God, President Bola Tinubu, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

On the other side, Tonye Cole, the APC governorship candidate in the 2023 election, accepted the Supreme Court's decision through a video posted on his social media accounts shortly after the verdict. Acknowledging the pronouncement of Governor Siminalaiyi Fubara, Cole, as a committed Democrat, expressed his respect for the rule of law and his diligent pursuit of the electoral process.

Cole emphasised the collective goal of peace and pledged to collaborate with individuals, both within and outside of government, who are dedicated to reviving Rivers State and fostering an environment where commerce thrives. Accepting the Supreme Court's decision marks, a commitment to the democratic process and a focus on the common objective of bringing progress and prosperity to the state.
