January 31, 2024 So-Safe Corps Rescues 17-Year-Old Boy From Kidnappers In Ogun

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, successfully rescued a 17-year-old boy named Otohu Moses, who was reportedly kidnapped on Monday.

The victim's father, Sunday Iboin, informed the So-Safe Corps about the incident on Tuesday, stating that his son was abducted while he went to relieve himself at the rear of their residence.

According to reports, the kidnappers, believed to be members of the local community, demanded a ransom of N1.5 million. The details of this harrowing event were outlined in a press release issued on Wednesday by the Office of the State Commander of the Corps, Soji Ganzallo, through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf.

The statement highlighted the circumstances of the incident, stating, "On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, one Sunday Iboin came to the Olorunda Post of the Corps to report that his son, Otohu Moses, was kidnapped at Olorunsogo Community, Olorunda in Abeokuta North Local Government Area at about 22:15 hrs on Monday, January 29, 2024, while he went out to ease himself at the back of the house."

Concerned for his son's safety, Sunday Iboin contacted the kidnappers, who informed him in the Yoruba language that Otohu Moses had indeed been kidnapped and demanded a ransom of N1,500,000. The victim's father suspected one of his neighbours of being involved in orchestrating the kidnapping.

The So-Safe Corps swiftly activated their operational team, strategically launching an operation into the forest where the alleged kidnappers were located, some kilometres away from the initial point of abduction. The team successfully rescued the boy, Otohu Moses, who, although unharmed, bore marks of physical abuse. The three-armed kidnappers managed to escape, taking with them one motorcycle.

The rescued victim was subsequently handed over to operatives of the state police command attached to Imala Divisional Police Headquarters for further assistance and investigation. The successful rescue operation by the So-Safe Corps reflects their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community members they serve.
