President Bola Tinubu has officially designated April 7 as National Police Day. This announcement was made by Vice President Kashim during the inaugural awards and commendations ceremony organized by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Abuja on Monday evening.

In his address titled "Courage Under Fire: A Tribute to Our Police Force," Vice President Shettima acknowledged the resilience of Nigerian citizens in the face of security threats and attacks on their lives and livelihoods. He emphasized the commitment of the police force, stating that despite the challenges faced by Nigeria's security architecture, the police have shown dedication. The Vice President reiterated the government's determination to modernize the Nigeria Police Force into a professional and accountable institution aligned with the nation's values.

He highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the police force, including investments in training and capacity-building. These efforts, he explained, are intended to equip police officers with the necessary skills, knowledge, and expertise to address modern policing challenges effectively.

Additionally, the government plans to upgrade equipment and technology to improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the force.
