The Nigerian police force has cautioned Nigerians against using a trending phrase, “No gree for anybody,” common amongst the youth, noting it can pose a security risk.
The viral phrase, which has continued to gain popularity online, is described by many as a slogan showing one’s convictions not to easily give in to others in the New Year.
Reacting to this at a news conference where three suspects linked to the Plateau Christmas Eve attack were paraded, force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi said the phrase could be adopted as a slogan of unruly behaviour.
He noted that while there is freedom of expression, Nigerians must be wary of statements that could be used to incite disobedience to authority.
