The Nigeria Police Force is preparing to reverse the ban on tinted glass vehicle permits after thoroughly reviewing the permit issuance process.

Initially implemented in June 2022, the ban was a proactive measure to strengthen national security and address criminal activities associated with misusing tinted glasses.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, ICT analysts and enforcement officers across the country will undergo extensive training on February 29, 2024, in anticipation of the resumption of tinted glass permit issuance.

The statement emphasized the Police Force's commitment to enhancing national security and combating crimes facilitated by the misuse of tinted glass. It acknowledged concerns surrounding tinted glass's role in facilitating various criminal activities, including kidnapping, armed robbery, illegal firearms transportation, and human trafficking.

With the forthcoming lifting of the ban, stringent measures will be implemented to prevent abuse and ensure strict adherence to guidelines governing the issuance and use of tinted glass permits. The comprehensive training scheduled for ICT analysts and enforcement officers underscores the police force's dedication to implementing the reversal effectively.
