A tragic incident unfolded at BrickHall Schools in the Cadastral Zone B11, Kaura, Abuja on Wednesday, resulting in the untimely death of a four-year-old pupil, Miguel Ovoke, during the school's mealtime.

As per the death certificate dated April 24, 2024, issued by Excel Specialist Hospital, Abuja, which was obtained by our correspondent, Ovoke was brought to the hospital by his teachers around 11 am in an unconscious state. The medical report, signed by Dr. Akinwande Ajayi on behalf of the medical director, stated that he was brought in due to "aspiration on meat while feeding at school."

Upon examination, the medical team discovered that the boy's pupils were fixed and dilated, with no reactive response to light. His peripheral pulses were impalpable, blood pressure unrecordable, and there was no cardiopulmonary activity or respiratory excursions, indicating a silent chest. Despite the medical team's efforts to resuscitate him, all attempts proved futile, leading to the conclusion that he was "Brought in Dead."

The grieving parents, suspecting foul play, have engaged the services of lawyer Deji Adeyanju to handle the case on their behalf. Adeyanju confirmed this development to our correspondent on Thursday.

Efforts to obtain a response from the school authorities have been unsuccessful as of the time of compiling this report. The school has yet to respond to an email sent to its known email address.
