December 16, 2022 Oyetola Left N407bn Debt, Took N18bn After Electoral Loss

The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has disclosed that the state is indebted to the tune of 407.32 billion naira, including 76 billion naira debts on salaries and pension.

Adeleke said his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola took a N18.04 Billion FGN Bridge Finance Facility loan after the July 16th, 2022 election which the former Governor lost and that there is no information on the repayment terms.

The governor made this revelation in an address he delivered at a meeting with the Osun State Traditional Rulers in Osogbo, saying the amount owed contractors is yet to be determined.

Shedding more light on this on a monitored programme later, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olawale Rasheed said after the payment of November salary, the state’s account is now in red.

However, on the same programme, the Chief Press Secretary to the former Governor, Ismail Omipidan, refuted all the claims that his principal left the state in debt.
