December 23, 2022 Osun: PDP, APC Adopt Final Addresses January 13

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke; and his party, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) have closed their cases before the election petition tribunal hearing petition emanating from the state’s July 16 governorship election.

This is as the panel adjourned till January 13, 2023, for the adoption of final written addresses by the parties.

Earlier, a forensic examiner, Samuel Oduntan, testifying for the second respondent, Adeleke, said over-voting occurred in six polling units during the election.

Oduntan, also a statistician, who said he carried out a forensic audit of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), added that in the course of duty, he worked on the BVAS machines and compared its results with Form EC8A and B series.

While under cross-examination, counsel for the petitioner, Akin Olujinmi (SAN), asked if the forensic expert served as a presiding officer or operated BVAS on the day of the poll. Oduntan answered in the negative.
