In Lagos, the state police command has arrested four people linked to the unrest that took place yesterday morning in the Ojota area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known in a series of tweets, saying the miscreants masquerading as Yoruba Nation agitators disrupted social and commercial activities in the area.

He said the miscreants attacked a team of police officers, comprising Alausa Division and the Raid Respond Squad (RRS) who had stepped in to disperse the unlawful gathering and prevent a breakdown of law and order.

Hundeyin said they shot two police officers and destroyed two vehicles in the process.

He said one person died in the Ojota area of the state following the unrest involving suspected members of the Yoruba Nation agitators and Policemen.

Meanwhile, the Leader of Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), Gani Adams, has dismissed reports that members of the organization were involved in the fracas, saying the Ojota rally came as a surprise.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, Gani Adams, who is the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland said though OPC is not against the agitation, he however stated that the group’s position on regionalism is sacrosanct.
