September 29, 2021 NMA Blames Past Leadership Of Resident Doctors For Ongoing Strike

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), has attributed the ongoing strike by the National Association of Residents Doctors which has entered its 58th day to the uncooperative attitude of the immediate past leadership of NARD.

The President of the NMA, Prof Innocent Ujah, said this while leading the newly elected leadership of NARD to a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, in Abuja.

The Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Charles Akpan, disclosed this in a statement titled, ‘NMA blames former NARD leadership for the lingering.’

Uja reportedly said, “I’m here with the newly elected officers of NARD. They came to me and we had a meeting, a very cordial, meaningful interaction. And after that, I told them that I had secured an appointment to introduce them to you (labour minister) which I thought should be private but even if it goes on CNN, it means we have opened a new chapter, a very positive chapter because a chapter can be bad".
