Abuja where the federal government has confirmed and defended the donation of N1.14 billion Naira to Niger Republic for the acquisition of operational vehicles.
The gesture was confirmed by Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday.
Freelance journalist, David Hundeyin had exposed the lid on the money which was approved in February. This has continued to raise dust across the country.
Speaking with state house correspondents, the minister said Nigeria has a policy of assisting its neighboring countries.
Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle was honored with a national award on security in Niger Republic.
Niger Republic’s President, Mohammed Bazoum, presented the award to the Governor.
The Governor was awarded along with five other Nigerians, for their various contributions to the country. They include Jigawa state Governor, Abubakar Badaru, the Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Bagudu, Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote and the Chairman of BUA, Abdussamd Rabiu.
