A Virologist and member of the World Health Organization, WHO Think Tank on COVID-19, Professor Oyewale Tomori has said Nigeria needs to put effective surveillance in place amid the current surge in COVID-19 cases in China.
China scrapped its strict zero-Covid policy in December and has seen a rapid surge of infections and deaths.
Speaking on a monitored programme, Professor Tomori expressed concerns called on the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to be more proactive in its approach.
He however explained that he is not calling for extreme measures just yet, but needs the country to be on alert.
