September 18, 2019 NFF targets friendly against African side

After securing a friendly match against the Brazilian national team for October 13, the Nigeria Football Federation is hoping to secure another match against an African side.

According to a statement by the NFF, the Eagles hope to secure the friendly as part of their preparations for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Nigeria are drawn in Group L of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers alongside Lesotho, Sierra Leone and Benin Republic.

The federation also hailed Eurodata Sport, a FIFA licenced agent, for putting together the friendly against Brazil.

“Having said that, the focus now is on getting an African team for the Super Eagles as a second match for the FIFA window in October, ahead of their 2021 AFCON qualifying matches in November,” NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, said.

The FIFA international friendly calendar is between October 7 and 15.

The Eagles first game in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers is against Benin on November 11
