March 4, 2024 NEMA Denies Allegations Of Warehouse Looting In Abuja

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has refuted media reports suggesting the looting of its warehouse in Abuja, asserting that the warehouse in question does not belong to it.

This was made known in a statement by the NEMA Press Unit, which was shared on the agency’s X account.

It stated further that to forestall any security breach at NEMA facilities, the Director General, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, has directed Zonal Directors and Heads of Operations to strengthen security in and around the agency’s offices and warehouses nationwide.

Meanwhile, the Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration confirmed the looting of its warehouse in Dei-Dei by residents in the FCT over the economic hardship in the country.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson for the ARD Secretariat, Zakari Aliyu, said the Secretary had earlier visited the warehouse, where the residents had looted everything in the store and vandalized the place, removing the roofs and windows.

Meanwhile, the FCT Police authorities have announced the arrest of 15 suspects, including two local security guards employed by the warehouse management, over the looting of a warehouse in the area.
