November 19, 2019 Lille to assess Osimhen’s knee injury

Victor Osimhen will be assessed in the next 48 hours after he limped off in Nigeria’s 4-2 win over Lesotho in Sunday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Maseru.

Osimhen copped a knee injury in a challenge with a Lesotho midfielder in the encounter he scored a brace and bagged two assists.

“We don’t know yet the extent of the injury but he will be assessed as soon as he arrives at his club in the next 24-48 hours to see the scale of the injury,” Osimhen’s representative Ariyo Igbayiola told our correspondent.

Osimhen has been Lille’s biggest success stories this season and so the sight of his late injury in Nigeria’s 4-2 win in Sunday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier is of significant concern.

The 20-year-old Nigeria international has been prolific for Lille this season scoring nine goals in 17 games and has scored four goals and two assists in nine games for the Eagles having made his debut for Gernot Rohr’s side in 2019.

He is expected to miss Lille’s Ligue 1 clash against Paris Saint Germain this Friday due to suspension.
