April 3, 2023 Leaked Audio: Peter Obi’s ‘Religious War’ Phone Call With Oyedepo Stirs Controversy

An audio recording of an alleged private conversation between the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo.

In the viral clip, a voice similar to that of Obi can be heard asking the cleric to speak to the Christians in the south-west and Kwara to vote for him in the presidential poll.

But the Labour Party campaign council has described the audio as deep fake aimed at tarnishing Obi’s image.

Deep fakes use a form of artificial intelligence called deep learning to make images of fake events.

In a statement, the Head, Obi-Datti Media Office, Diran Onifade and the council’s chief spokesperson, Yunusa Tanko, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to demarket Obi.

However, there seems to be conflicting information coming from the camp of LP, as a spokesperson of the LP campaign, Kenneth Okonkwo, appeared to verify the authenticity of the audio but claimed it was taken out of context by critics.
