November 27, 2023 Kano Women Protest, Fault Appeal Court Verdict On Gov Election

Hundreds of women in the ancient city of Kano marched to the State Police Command yesterday to protest the recent Court of Appeal judgment that sacked Governor Abba Yusuf.

Despite police warnings against protests, the women sang songs in support of Yusuf while carrying placards with various inscriptions such as “Our mandate must be restored,” “Injustice exposed in CTC,” and “Kano voted for Abba,” among others.

The women began their march from the residence of former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso. They headed for the Kano State Police Command Headquarters in Bompai to hand over their letter of protest.

However, on their way to the Bompai area, they were intercepted by teams of police officers and Nigerian Correctional Service personnel, who escorted them peacefully to their destination.

One of the protesters spoke with newsmen.

Speaking in a separate interview, the Majority Leader at the Kano State House of Assembly, Usaini Lawan, also said the people do not support the court judgement.
