Four priest sisters from the Catholic church on the now-famous Okigwe-Enugu Road have been abducted by gunmen.
Numerous persons have been abducted recently, including the Primate of the Nigerian Methodist Church, Catholic priests, and travelers.
A Catholic priest named REV. FR. Chinedu Nwadike was abducted just last week while walking along the street.
Reverend Sisters Johannes Nwodo, Christabel Echemazu, Liberata Mbamalu, and Benita Agu were abducted on their way to morning mass in the most recent event.
The abduction was confirmed in a statement issued by the Secretary-General, The Sisters Of Jesus The Saviour, Sister Zita Ihedoro.
The statement, which was issued by Sister Zita Ihedoro, Secretary-General of the religious body, asked all religious faithful to pray for the quick and safe return of the victims.
The statement, which was tagged “sad news” reads, “sisters Johannes Nwodo, Christabel Echemazu, Liberata Mbamalu and Benita Agu are kidnapped.
“Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, it is with great pain that we bring to your notice the kidnapping of four of our sisters mentioned above.
“The sad event of their abduction occurred around Okigwe-Umulolo area this morning shortly after the sisters were on their way to thanksgiving mass of our sister.
